Every school year is like a road trip. We plan, we hustle, and we get caught up in the ‘what’ so much that we forget the ‘why’. This workshop brings a focus to keeping your eye on the road, taking care of what’s happening in your car, and using what you can control to keep both classroom and school culture positive and productive. Darrin and Tom share stories from the road, powerful tips and ideas to help educators stay connected with what is in their control and the impact they make every day.

Darrin’s an expert in school culture and climate as well as coaching and growing emerging leaders. He is known for his keen insight, culture-first leadership style, and dynamic personality. Darrin Peppard is an author, publisher, speaker, and consultant focused on what matters most in leadership. Darrin’s an expert in school culture and climate as well as coaching and growing emerging leaders. He is known for his keen insight, culture-first leadership style, and dynamic personality. In 2016, Darrin was named Wyoming Secondary School Principal of the Year by WASSP/NASSP and was the 2015 Jostens Renaissance Educator of the Year. In 2017, Darrin earned his Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Wyoming. This past summer, Darrin was inducted into the Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame. Darrin shares his experiences from over 25 years in education, specifically those learned as an education leader during the past 13 years. As a ‘recovering’ high school principal, Darrin talks about lessons learned and effective strategies to help leaders of all experience levels become more effective at their craft.

His professional life has been committed to education, serving as a grade school and high school math teacher and Social Emotional Learning teacher from 1974 until his retirement from teaching in 2014.
Tom Cody, a co-founder of Top 20 Training, shares his unique witticisms, insights and wisdom gathered from his 40 years in the classroom. His professional life has been committed to education, serving as a grade school and high school math teacher and Social Emotional Learning teacher from 1974 until his retirement from teaching in 2014. Tom now devotes his time and energy to Top 20 Training and its mission to revolutionize American education. His one-of-a-kind trainings are engaging, humorous and thought-provoking. He has co-authored Top 20 Teachers: The Revolution in American Education, Top 20 Parents: Raising Happy, Responsible and Emotionally Healthy Children and Top 20 Teens: Discovering the Best-kept Thinking, Learning and Communicating Secrets of Successful Teenagers. A graduate of Colorado State University, Tom is a crossword puzzle fanatic and a deeply committed baseball fan. He and his wife Judy, also a former teacher, have three sons; one is now a high school math teacher.
